Passport to Iron City: Inside the World of ‘Alita’ From Director Robert Rodriguez

[dropcap size=big]L[/dropcap].A. Taco was invited to preview Passport to Iron City in anticipation of the forthcoming film Alita: Battle Angel from director Robert Rodriguez. The interactive experience in downtown L.A. combines elements of an escape room, scavenger hunt, and live action role play to create a unique experience set in the same world where the movie takes place.

If you've seen the trailer, you'll recognize the Kansas bar, which is just one of multiple props from the movie being used for this event. You won't need to see the movie to enjoy the experience, nor will it spoil it for you if you plan on seeing it. Instead, you are given hands on insight into the day to day world the movie is set in.

As one of the resident anime heads here at L.A. Taco, I had a lot of fun in Iron City. The bulk of the experience revolves around group based mini games and a credit point based point system that determine a winning team at the end of the experience. So get ready to make fast friends with the group you are set up with or roll deep with your crew.

Once inside Iron City, you'll come across various actors placed at each mini game station to guide you. You'll also have an opportunity to gain insight into some of the games if you meet the request of other characters roaming around the waiting areas. They're a lot of fun to interact with whether you are trying to win the game or just wanna have a good time.

Passport to Iron City opens on January 23 here in Los Angeles.
